Slow Cooker Porridge with Cinnamon and Raisins

Use your slow cooker to make a warming breakfast of oatmeal (porridge) with dried fruit and spiced with cinnamon, delicious for cold mornings.

Ingredients

  • 60 g rolled oats (old-fashioned oats)
  • 300 ml semi-skimmed milk (half-fat)
  • 150 ml cold water
  • 50 g dried mixed fruit
  • 4 tsp pure light maple syrup optional
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Place all of the ingredients apart from the maple syrup in the slow cooker pot. Stir.
    60 g rolled oats, 300 ml semi-skimmed milk, 150 ml cold water, 50 g dried mixed fruit, 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Cook on low for 6 hours or on high for 2 hours.
  • Sweeten to your taste with maple syrup (or honey, sugar or sweetener if you prefer) before serving with your favourite toppings.
    4 tsp pure light maple syrup

Notes

Servings
The amounts given are enough for one adult and two small children, with a small bowl each. If you are feeding more or have a good appetite in the morning, you may need to double it up!
Slow cooker size
I use my 3.5 litre digital slow cooker for this, which isn't too hot. If you have a slow cooker which runs very hot, you may need to reduce the cooking time.
