This week I’ve been trying out a new gadget in my kitchen which I think might well become my favourite kitchen device. This is the new Froothie Evolve high speed blender.
What is great about this blender is that in addition to the vacuum blending jug it also comes with a second jug with a cooking function!
So you receive two high-quality glass jugs as standard. I think this is great if you are using your blender often during the day, you won’t be washing the jug up repeatedly every time you want to blend something else.
The vacuum jug (on the right in the photo above) can be used for smoothies, nut butters, ice cream/sorbet and all the usual uses you normally used a high speed blender for.
Then the second heated jug (on the left in the photo above) can be used to cook and then blend so you can make smooth or chunky soup (there are presets for each), use it to make food for babies (if you are doing purees), steam vegetables or make cooked blended dishes like dips and sauces.
I like the fact that the jars are glass rather than plastic, it seems much greener to me. The glass is tempered so this means it can withstand the high-powered blending power.
A Smart Blender
As well as using the presets which you access on the body of the blender itself, I like the fact there is also a Froothe Evolve app which you can use to control the blender via Bluetooth. You can also even talk to the Evolve as it has voice commands built in!
What with the Alexas, voice-controlled lights and now the Froothie Evolve it is becoming very high tech at my house nowadays!!
Putting the Froothie Evolve blender through its paces
Making nut butter
I have never had a high-speed blender before, so the first thing I wanted to try out was making nut butter. I have almond butter with my porridge most mornings and it can be expensive.
Using the preset nut butter function I made a packet of almonds into almond butter in a couple of minutes. The preset function is just over a minute, I ran it twice as I didn’t realize at first you need to use the tamper tool provided to scrape down the sides of the jug regularly to make sure the almonds are being ground down.
But I was pleased with the results and will definitely be making more nut butters soon!
I was also amazed to see the nuts were ground to powder in a matter of seconds. Next time I need ground hazelnuts, almonds or pistachios for a recipe I’ll make my own!
Making soup
I love soup and it is a great option for lunch or a light meal now it has got cold. I normally make soup in my slow cooker and then use a hand blender or food processor to blend it. The option of just adding the ingredients into the cooking jug of the Evolve and having piping hot and ultra smooth soup 30 minutes later was a revelation!
I just chopped the vegetables and put them in the jug, then topped up to the 1.4 litre level for hot ingredients which is shown on the jug, then added my spices and vegetable stock powder.
Then I selected the smooth soup option. I did this via the app but you can also select the option either by pressing the buttons on the blender or by voice command. The timer counts down from 30 miutes and for the first 15 minutes or so the cooking jug heats the contents.
Then it pulses occasionally to mix, while still cooking. Finally in the last ten minutes it blends thoroughly while still cooking.
When it beeps to let you know the end of the program has been reached, you open the lid to find the blended soup, which is so frothy and full of air.
Then you can just pour the soup into your soup bowls using the handy spout on the jug, and enjoy it.
My carrot soup was really frothy and smooth. I’ll be sharing the recipe soon!
I found this process so much simpler than my usual soup-making and I will definitely be using this a lot in future. If you have a Froothie Evolve you won’t need a separate soup maker anymore.
Cleaning the blender
It was easy to clean the jug after making my nut butter and soup. Note that you can’t put the whole jug under running water due to the elements in the base of the jug, so you need to be careful with it. You can use the preset cleaning function on the menu or add water and a drop of washing up liquid to the jug and then pulse.
For cleaning after making the nut butter I ran the cleaning function and afterwards I found the sides of the jug were still a little dirty. So I used the cleaning brush (provided) along with a little water and washing up liquid, then poured it away and wiped the jug dry with a cloth.

I still cannot get over the fact how smooth the soup made with Froothie Evolve is! I am very much in love with this blender for soup and smoothie functions alone but there is so much more to it than that! Love the look of your carrot soup Lucy!
